I have had my car on the machine this pm and i have been told what is wrong, firstly i need a new cam sensor, and secondly a new ecu for the auto box.
apparently this will cure all the bad changes the box is doing and should also give the car its performance back, not that i had noticed it was lacking.
the guy gave me all the tech data and advice needed, ill be getting it done asap.
called MB for quote on parts and was shocked, £330 for the ecu and £70 for the sensor.
I will be ringing someone for another tomorrow.

dont buy the ECU until you have had the oil checked, star diag alwayspoints to the ecu, when its a oil issue..been there done that!

And you don't necessarily need a new ECU, the old one might be repairable.
