Hi
I am new here so hope i posted in the right place.
I am looking for some advice on what might be wrong with my gl diesel.
The problem started with lots of white smoke out of the exhaust when it was warmed up. I have checked the head and all the other things i could think of but was then advised it could be a injector issue.
I have never done the injectors on a diesel and not sure i would be able to start now but would really appreciate it if someone could look at the attached pics and confirm what i think and that's the injector in cylinder 2 is not working properly. pic1.jpgpic2.jpg

Thanks for any help

Those are the long term correction figures, in microseconds that are applied to the calculated energising times. In an ideal system would be 0. So in fact cyl 2 is showing as needing almost no correction which suggests it is ideal. The other cylinders, at both correction points, have a negative value. That means they need a lower energising time compared to when they were new to achieve the same output. In other words they are overfuelling, but not by much and only really at the lower pressure. The biggest correction 79us, I expect it can go up to 255us. So it's reasonable, but not significant.
Note these corrections are a long term correction. They will not change that quickly. Check the counter and values to see if they are moving.
Check the cylinder balancing/smooth running to see a more dynamic correction figures.

I would expect to have a mid pressure correction point. I see the screens are data list 7 and 9. Was 8 correction data too? If so.are the values somewhere between the high and low pressure correction points?

Hi
screen 8 was the same really just different BAR setting.
With the smoke issues i was pointed in the direction of the injectors as the obvious problems have been ruled out. Their is a bit of a engine rattle on that side of the engine as well plus the idle can be quite erratic. I am really looking for other suggestions on what to rule out next.
