Hello all,

I have a C220 with 110K untroubled miles, however I now get a 'fresh' very strong diesel smell coming from the air vents.

Defo fuel smell, not a burnt oil one.

If I have air con on the coolest setting, no aroma, but as soon as I turn up a notch, in it wafts!

Any help will be much appreciated.

Lift your bonnet. Remove engine cover. At first look for possibilty of diesel gunk over injectors. If that the case then you found reason for that smell and you have faulty injector/injector seal. If look clean then look for fuel leaks arund fuel filter, leak of pipes, fuel pump and fuel delivery lines.

Diesel leak under the bonnet? Just a wild guess...

Well, started it this morning and lifted bonnet to find the fuel running from under the engine cover over the block, injectors then.... now on the ramp at the dealers and awaiting the costs for the repairs.

Let us know about outcome.

Garage just called in, its the not the injectors YAY.......its the high pressure fuel pump. Only leaking fuel when the engine is cold.

Find out the cost to repair tomoz, the part itself it £495 including VAT and MB will give me £130 in part exchanged on the failed part.

Will update with the full cost when known.

All done.

Garage used gen MB parts and supplied and fitted for £405 with a jet wash of the lump to remove all traces.
