Diesel Tapping

Hi Everyone,

I've got a C220 CDi (estate). It's a great car and I'm really happy with it, but it seems to have developed a tapping noise inside the (diesel) engine recently. It's most obvious when the car is revved from a standstill, and seems to go away at higher speeds.

Can anyone give me some clues as to what it might be & possible remedies?

It might just be diesel knock under certain load conditions. Try a strong dose of injector cleaner.

Here, what in might look.

Valve tappet can also make that kind of noise.

Try Millers Diesel sport ( can't remember it's full name off hand as it's in the garage!) . I use it all the time as recommended to me also by Dieselman sometime ago
