Disappearing doors!!

AH!! Ooops! :D

Looks very neat.

How do you get out when there's not power though?

I think that, just like the internal combustion engine, there are some very good reasons that front hinged car doors are still with us over a century on....;)

What a great idea! First tried by BMW on the Z1, but this is truly superb!

Sorry Barry - not first tried by the Z1 - much earlier than that! Try 1954. I give you - the Kaiser Darrin:

Nice car!!! :) But, those doors slid into the wing - the Z1 went down into the sill. But, yes, that was probably the first "sliding" door! :)

It looks pretty cool on the Z1. Im not to sure about it on the other car in the video though. I bet it would be interesting to see what happens if someone decided to close the door when someone is getting out, lol.

Someone say something funny there Sonny? :D

Was this pic taken in San Bernadino by any chance?

Who is we? I fail to understand the purpose of posts like this, unless there were duplicate, concurrent postings going on. It's the first time I've seen this article, and as the other links were posted 8 and then 4 months ago, do you suppose newcomers or others who missed it may not be interested now, or should we have been paying more attention?

My post was intended to be helpful rather than censorious.

The point is not to castigate people for having missed the original post, but to point them in the right direction. Ideally, having done so, any new comments would be added to the original thread, but it doesn't always work that way. It can, of course, also be interesting to see what others have already posted on the topic.
