Disappointing car viewing

Well I set of this morning with high hopes to purchasing a W221 S320 Cdi. Trader assured me it was "mint" ... should have guessed from that termology.

2 owner car.

Pretty basic spec for a S.

Corrosion on back rear quarters around the rear wheel wells. Bilster corrosion around the bottom of the rear doors and boot lid.

Inside was very clean.


Dash board glow plug light on
Pass airbag warning light
Service C overdue by 171 days
All discs heavily worn

Took the engine cover off and I have never seem such as mess oil and caked on crud absolutely filthy.

He offered to knock 500 pounds off and give me 6 months warranty.

I walked away thanking him for wasting my morning and a 60 mile trip!

Im not the only one then, I've pretty much given up looking now until something comes by, I've lost track of how many miles i've had wasted

"Mint" "Proper" cars that have turned out to be far from the description, FSH being half history, and out of date servicing, no rust just half a wheel arch missing lol, I feel your pain.

Bad luck Gavin nothing worse than going expecting a decent car and then it is a crap,still at least it was not too long a drive,surprised you were looking at a old mans car,is father time catching up with you.

I'm almost at the point where id buy anything Mercedes thats been well looked after lol, haven't seen one yet.

Although there is a nice s320 in Dark Blue sitting outside my Unit, not mine i may add...

Well Gav if you had posted you were after a S320 you could have been the proud owner of that blue S320 because, it was mine you never saw it without my personal plate,I sold it because SWMBO never drove it all the time I owned it,I am looking for a R129 and in the meantime I have a DS5 a pretty car which she will drive but not a merc.
