Do all facelift W211 come with hill assist?

On my 2008 w211, whenever I start on steep hills (~40 deg) sometimes the car slightly jerks backwards, as if a new driver is trying to do a hill start on a manual, although it's a very short distance. I figured it's normal, and just got used to it, later I found out some w211s should have hill assist, which is a separate thing from the HOLD function, some places state that all facelift cars have them and that my brakes/parking brake are the culprit, though that was a single posting and I couldn't find any definitive answer. My transmission is a 722.9, and the car is a classic trim level if that even matters. Thanks.

All W211 automatic gear box should have hold function in Europe (US models may differ). Have you tried to activate it when standstill? If hold does not work, usually it is some minor fault in gear selector. If your car is drifting, its more like gearbox related (torque is not applied strong/fast enough)

Hold and hill start are two separate things I believe

The hold function which is activated by deeply pushing in the brake pedal works fine. I'm not sure if there's a separate hill start that works without any driver input.

That's my understanding.

Check the VIN decode, that should detail hill start. Ours is w/o.

A thought, it's unnecessary.
Stop on hill, apply brake hold. Press go peddle, job done.
Now you just said that makes me think. Wasn't there a hill assist for manuals?

I love the Hold function!

No hill assist on my S211, only SBC hold.

Our V220 does have hill assist and hold. Hold is press the brake pedal and it holds.
Hill assist, as far as I can work out is just an aid to stop you rolling back and to help you drive off, no foot brake required. The car just sits there until you press the accelerator. I wouldn’t miss it..

I miss brake hold when I get into the Viano.
There's no hill assist either, but it would need to be steep to roll backward.

Yeah I agree, no real need for it. I just thought maybe something was broken.
