Do DPF additives actually work?

On and offI have looked around for independent reviews of these liquids that you add to your fuel tank. However, I've not really found any independent research on this.

Have you tried the stuff because you are like me and only do short, very short trips ie 50% of A to B's are sub one mile and about 40% are a 5-mile round trip to pick up some of
our grandchildren possibly twice a week? The last long run I did in my car was 70 miles each way in Sept. More recently 10 10-mile round trips to hospital/etc.

Have you used the above and did it work and how do you know it did and what was it?

I've added a diesel fuel cleaner all 500mlls to the 115 quid tank of fuel. Today to the hospital and back, this trip was about 8 miles total, the dpf regen did seem to kick in as there was a slight burning smell when I parked the car up back on our drive

From what I've read they do actually work ..... they lower the temp at which the carbon will burn off. But it won't help at all with the minimal heat built up on just one mile. It takes about 10 minutes after reaching certain criteria ( right temp, min speed, certain fuel level etc) to even complete a DPF regen..... so you would be lucky to get one done even on your 10 mile trips. Wrong tool for the job really imo.
