Do Merc do their own transmissions

Hi all,

as the question says, do mercdes do their own auto boxes (and manual) for their cars, I know many manufacturers use companies such as Gertrag and ZF, buit with Merc being the big company that they are as well as making buses and lorry tractor units I would assume they do their own boxes, can anyone confirm, also are there any technical docs out on the web about the w202 5speed auto box?

Yes they do make them themselves.

Do a serch for WIS. All the info you will ever need is on there.

Much better.

I have a 5 speed ZF in my Range Rover. Its not a patch on the 5 speed in my C-class.
