Hi folks,

As per the title for nerdiness.

My A207 (E250) 2010 with an engine code 651.911 (204bhp)

His x218 (CLS220) 2016 with an engine code 651.924 (177bhp)

Thank you.

The 170 PS (125 kW) and 204 PS (150 kW) versions employ a 2-stage (bi-turbo) charging setup with a small, high pressure turbo providing quick boost at low RPM fed by a large, lower pressure turbo providing increased performance at higher RPM, then at highest rpm ranges and loads, using both simultaneously. The lower output versions have only a single turbocharger.
That's what I found on Wikipedia.

My understanding with the 2143cc OM651 is that the two higher outputs are bi turbo with the higher 204 hp having a larger main turbo .

There is a 136 hp version of the OM651 and this would definitely be a single turbo .

Fascinating - I thought all MB diesels of this era were single turbo
They have a small turbo that spins up quickly to eliminate turbo lag, that feeds into a larger one for more power further up the rev range.
