I am trying to determine what service work is required for my car, so far I know a B service is coming up as the on board computer notifies me and that I don't have to worry about timing belts/chains for life.

It is however unclear if a gearbox/transmission oil change is needed and when (I am currenrly at 70k miles), can't seem to locate anything online or within the manual on this matter and no service history indicates this was done at any point.

Transmission oil change interval should be 125 000 km for low dust countries (lower for 4-Matic and some other W213 models, should not concern you).

Instrument cluster reminds about service but only the hidden menu gives information about details.

Timing chains are not exactly for life, has been a real issue for some MB gasoline engines in the past (gears the main issue) but should be better with the M274 now. My friend at a private garage says one should look after engine oil if the car is driven short trips. Direct injection engines leave gasoline to engine oil at cold start.

The car has an electronic service book, your garage can read the past service info for you.

Thanks all, sounds like I'll need to have it done. I can feel a jolt or jitter when the transmission is shifting it self into lower gear so maybe thats another sign a transmission service is needed

Its annoying that MB does not easily make available a service schedule or a maintenance booklet (to the owners at least)

My 2016 Audi A6 had a very clear UK specifc schedule booklet, I knew exactly what needed doing and when which is handy when you can't trust mechanics.

Thanks, that's very helpful.

Does not seem to mention a transmission oil change but does seem to refer to rear axle oil change, are these one of the same?
No
