Don't M-B want to sell me a vehicle?

Requested a Vito range brochure on the M-B website ... got all the usual "thanks for your interest" confirmations ... but 2 weeks on nothing has arrived

Requested a Transporter range brochure from VW at the same time, big pack dropped onto my doormat 2 days later.

For the (high) spec. I want, a Vito and a Transporter both price up to about the same - but the Transporter has a 5 cyl 2.5 litre 174 hp engine rather than 4 cyl 2.2 150 hp in the Vito. Not in any rush, but the VW is looking a better option. Need something bigger to replace the Sharan.

Oh, this made me smile. The well 'ard van man can now get this off the shelf special edition Transporter from VW:

Actually, if you lost the silly chrome 'grid' trim on the front and the chrome side bars it wouldn't be too bad IMO. I might see if I could get the 30mm drop Eibach springs, 18" wheels, and (small) tailgate spoiler from that on a special order window van / Kombi.

Put a red stripe from the top right to bottom left and it would look like a pimped up A-Team van.......which isnt necessarily a bad thing :)

Have you contacted your local Mercedes-Benz Commercial dealer? I must confess the one I use is very good. A sales person came to my house with not only the brochures, but also in the exact type of vehicle I was interested in. They sat down, listened to what I wanted, made a few suggestions and then we negotiated a price that I was very pleased with. They even offered to let me have a demonstrator for a week.

I would think you are in a good position to negotiate especially as VW appear more interested. One of our previous vehicles was the old V-class 220CDI Ambiente automatic. Wife absolutely loved it, the newer vehicle can only be an improvement, however if your not getting good service then blow 'em.

Good luck,
John

With VAT it's £25,483 for SWB and £26,012 for LWB.

Hardly any options to add to that apart from choice of colour (black, silver, or red) and whether you want a tailgate or split doors. Only available with the top spec 174 hp / 400 nm engine.

No good for me as I want rear windows, back seats, twin side doors, etc.

Not yet, but I certainly will. There's a VW one and an M-B one within half a mile of each other  Have to say that the extra power and torque of the VW is a big plus though as I need to tow a 1.5 tonne caravan from time to time.

Speaking of which, the one annoying thing is that 4WD (4Motion) is only available on the VW with the lower tune 130 hp 2.5 engine
