Hi all, i have just bought some door sills for my c200. But i have never fitted anything like this before lol. I would love to have a go myself rather than take it to a garage. Is this going to be difficult and any ideas how i fit these. Here are the ones i bought

This is my 1st merc and i am hooked, i know what you merc owners mean when you say they are a joy to drive. Ive owned mine 5 months now and score this forum and drool lol. I saw a pic on here of Killerhertz's 1999 W202 C240 Sport and saw his sills and knew then i needed some of these for mine lol.

I was bidding on those - but forgot they finished this afternoon, was wondering if the winner was another member as they were in the spotted on e-bay section.

Perhaps Karl will be along soon with fitting advice.

If these are anything like the illuminated sills I had on my old W202, they just stick over the top of what is already there and stuck down using double-sided 3M pads.

I too was going to bid on those sills, but they didnt look OEM to me. I emailed the seller and he said the MB lettering was in fact engraved, but after looking long and hard at the pics it really didnt look like it. Plus im saving for an AG grill first before other mods like sills etc...

Would be interested to see what they look like when OP has fitted them?!

I will get some photos up as when they are fitted, he's posting them saturday and i have a couple of days off next week to play about with them. :bannana:

I also agree with sgtbob that these don't look genuine to me either.

Im afraid they arent genuine, doesnt matter though. Fitting them isnt too difficult, the hardest part is prising off the old ones without hurting your fingers.

Simply use a strong ruler type thing to prise them off from 1 side. they are held onto the chassis by 4 or 5 pins that go into the sill.

Once they are off, it should become clear how you re-fit them. The rear ones will use the existing kickplates and clip onto them.

:) Your not alone :)

Correct....they are not genuine.

I contacted the seller a few days ago as I was also interested and he told be that they wern't genuine.

He also had an illuminated set which were originals which I got for about £26. :)

Sorry but I cannot keep quiet :D:D

I looked at your username and then the question

The answer could be in your name.

Squeeze some mastic onto the new part and plop it into place, then wipe away any excess 'mastic' :)

Hi,
When I fitted mine I found the 3M tape to be woefully inadequate, and decided to use no more nails, rather a permanant solution I know, but they are still on there 4 years later.
