Does anyone know where I can download the above for a 2003 S500LWB, I have a downloaded the Comand Manual.

You should be able to find a US manual but it is a bit different from the European one, for UK specifically it does not talk about RHD models.

Get one from a dealer or buy one from ebay (but make sure it's the right one for your car, they come in different versions depending on the year). It's hardly a big expense and you really want to have the proper manual with such a car and all its functions.

If you have linguatronic, that will be covered in yet another separate manual.

I have that as well, but I got a CD disc which explains it all,I find it's more of a pain trying to use it though,

I got a Manual for a CL which explains most things, on the S-Class do I have Auto Opening & Closing of the Windows & Sunroof from the Key Fob

I use linguatronic all of the time and it's great, works like a charm even with my thick accent :D. I like it a lot for things like changing the audio source or moving between tracks, you can do it without taking your eye of the road and it works very well.

Yes. Point the key to the door handle and keep the button down.

No it dosn't do that, any ideas ?

Thanks

Is the key working otherwise?

The procedure for summer opening is as follows: point the tip of the key (where the IR sender is) at the driver's door handle (where the receiver is). Press the unlock button and hold it down. After a short pause, the windows and sunroof start opening and the seat ventilation (if present) will be activated.

Keep the button down until the windows and roof are opened as far as you want.

Closing is the same but with the lock button.

Remember that locking/unlocking uses a radio transmitter/receiver, so works without a direct visual link between key and door and from greater distance than the infrared comfort opening/closing.

The car Locks & Unlocks ok as it should, but just dosn't activate the windows,I have kept the Unlock Button pressed for up to 30sec,

Have you tried the other key? Also, try the passenger door instead of the driver's door (if there is a receiver in that door's handle that is).

It works with both keys from the passengers side, I always was at the drivers side & never thought about it only working on one side only, suppose it being designed in a LHD market it would make sense. My BMW740IL as far as I can recall worked on any side.

Many Thanks for that info.

It definitely should work at the drivers' side too. The receiver in that door might be defective or disconnected.

The doors unlock & lock from both sides, that is what I thought was odd, the windows didn't on the drivers side.

Locking/unlocking is completely different, it uses a radio transmitter/receiver and therefore you need no line of sight to the door at all and the receiver is not in the door either.

For convenience opening/closing, the key does not use radio communication but an infrared signal for which the receivers are located in the door handle and for which therefore you must be close enough to the door and hold the key in a direct line of sight to the receiver.

That explains it for me, I think I will just have to live with it working on one side unless it is an easy fix.

Thanks for that.

Actually the doors lock and unlock via IR too (almost impossible to identify unless the RF part gets broken). But now it seemed obvious that the IR receiver at the driver's door is broken (actually probably not even a rare issue on a W220).

The doors lock/unlock when I am on the drivers side, there wouldn't be two receivers would there,or could it just be a brocken wire behind it.
