driver lands in ditch

The ones around our way are a special breed , my guess is there must have special training . No one group of people could be as bad as they are without being specially groomed or selected from the bottom of the pile .

Maybe some of them start the job worth good intentions and get dragged down to level that there peers find acceptable.

Please don't go on about "how would you like working outside in all weathers " There are crappier jobs than being a 'Refuse engineer' .

No one in my area has a good thing to say about them and various complains have gone into the council .

Driving a bloody great refuse truck while texting was not a good move by the (female) driver of one truck .. oddly enough she hasn't been seen since.....

I have to say our refuse collection is excellent. They’re as courteous as they can be when they have a dangerous job to do, they put the bins back roughly where they were before, and collect small extra Al items with the rest of the recycling.

Best of all, they even take extra recycling waste - a lot of extra recycling waste - as long as it’s all been appropriately bundled up and safely positioned for collection. We really couldn’t ask for better service.

I knew we were lucky - based upon our experience of living elsewhere - and this thread confirms it.

I can't complain about our refuse workers either - the bins are put back close enough to their original place (although not quite as tidily as they are put out - but they are doing hundreds).

We have various coloured bins with different collections, but the council website is kept up to date with details of rearranged collection dates (after vehicle faults etc) and in general the job is done well.

Seems crazy, but when the road sweeper comes down our road it's always on the day before "bin day" !
