Driving in the eu

Dear me. Why all the discussion about stick-on beam deflectors?

The OP’s car will either have mechanical beam masks operated by a lever on each headlamp, or if it has ILS he can swap from Left Hand Traffic to Right Hand Traffic in the instrument cluster.

Again, a leaflet from someone who is selling all these things that are not required by law. They've been getting away with it for years counting on car owners ignorance of what the law actually is.

They even say on the second page, "The legal requirement is to ‘not dazzle oncoming drivers’ rather than specifically to adjust/convert the headlampbeam pattern. Without adjustment the dipped beam will dazzle oncoming drivers and this could result in a fine" So they admit in the same document that it is not law to fit beam convertors. Shysters is a good term to describe all these companies.
I posted that to show that the AA (the shysters) were saying exactly what the legal requirement was. You seem to have put a different interpretation on it.

On page one they show a tick against all the countries in the EU that they claim will fine you if you don't have beam deflectors, on the next page they state that the law does not actually say you have to have them. Do you think that's them saying exactly what the legal requirement is or trying to sell as many as they can to folk who don't read further than the first page?

No clue. I answered the question in the first response.

No it's not, it's only "mandatory" if you listen to the ferry companies, the RAC etc and anyone else who will happily sell you them. They've been praying on gullable motorists for decades.
You kind of say that are mandatory in your earlier post....
"The law in the EU states it's an offence to blind oncoming traffic, it does not say you have to fit anything to your lights."

.....and unless your car has the ability to alter its beam shape mechanically, you can't do one without fitting the other. They even legally need to be fitted in daylight hours.

Only partially, you didnt mention the levers in the headlights of older models but you may be correct on 2010, my 2009 had the levers

You no listen! They ARE mandatory if your car has no mechanical method of conversion as that would be the only way of avoiding dazzling other drivers.....something that you yourself say IS required. All the "driving abroad" sites say so......even if they don't sell stuff. Anything else is saying it's ok to be blinding other drivers with the beam flicking the wrong way....which it clearly isn't. Also they need to be fitted in daylight.....so it's not just avoid dazzling drivers....it's about complying with the rules. Adjusting you lights right down so they don't dazzle is not the answer either....and it would clearly be silly to restrict your dip beam view at night in that way.

You're talking rubbish. I'm out.

Google is your friend. I'm not the one talking rubbish. I'm half Italian with family on Milan....so probably drive on the Continent more than many.
Any way if you want to have your car declared unroadworthy and insurance voided you carry right on.

I'm also out!

Yeah should be on dash on 2010, I had the same issue my 2009 didn’t have it but my cousins 2010 did.
