Nevermind just the Welsh schools, it should be broadcast across the nationwide network

But have you seen the length of some of those Welsh words ;)

Sorry.....maybe not a suitable topic to be making jokes about.....I'll get my coat.

Another campaign has also been launched today: drug-driving
I can't find the YouTube video to post, but there is a video in this BBC link

Excellent stuff. Why can't we have more of this sort of thing shown in schools and even on mainstream TV? If it makes even one potential texting driver change their ways it will be worth it.

BTW, I saw a young woman this morning driving along while quite obviously texting, so this has a particular resonance for me today.

I notice it's been tagged by YouTube as "may be inappropriate", reminds me of the speed awareness seminar I went to - they're not allowed to show actual or reconstructed accidents for fear of causing distress...

unfortunatly these videos wont be allowed be shown on TV due to stupid reasons.

videos such as this should be aired - it needs to be hard hitting to get people to take notice these days, otherwise people continue to believe they are invincible in their tin-box on wheels.

Should be compulsory viewing for these youngsters (and some people who should know better!). Same as the health and safety vids, screwdriver through hand, over-reaching on ladders etc.

Sadly it's not only themselves that they kill - although that is bad enough, they also maim and kill innocent drivers & pedestrians.

I would urge those of you with kids the relevant age to let them see this vid via the forum.

TOTALLY TOTALLY AGREE :thumb:
The reality of what is happening has to be shown in all it's glory without pulling any punches. Anything less it loses imapct to the point you may as well not bother.

This may be the sweeping statement for today, but its kids of 16 years plus that are the main target audience for this type of message. New drivers or new soon to be drivers...The ones that have mobiles welded to the palms of their hands :(

The Aussies wouldn't think twice about airing this on prime time tv. I have got to admit - this video really bangs home the dangers ...still can hear that little girl asking for her mummy and daddy to wake up....chills the spine.

The drug driving video bothers me.

Why did they portray these youngsters (that are supposedly high on drugs) as well dressed and financially capable, good looking and generally very presentable and articulate?

The message I read into it is that you'll be fine, no, more than that... popular, attractive and financially capable as well as being in total control if you take drugs. :(

A far cry from the images thay used to use for addicts in government campaigns..

Interesting that they they start this campaign before having set any legal limits on drug driving. One would have though that this would need to be in place beforehand. :dk:

IIRC the comment raised at the Strathclyde RSU meeting was that these adverts/videos don't scare the recipients into the facts. They actually instill a feeling of disbelief rather than fact as the viewers align their thought process to a movie rather than facts.

A shame as we were all, I think, rather moved by the series of adverts made for Northern Ireland.

You're absolutely right there. What is unbelievable is that some people boast that they text while driving - our MD at a recent meeting!!!!!

maybe it's an age thing?

Years back, the 'clunk click every trip' was dismissed by older drivers who all had a story about someone who would have been dead if they were wearing a seat belt.

Much the same for drink driving. It was only 'other people' that had accidents when they drank

The current 'speed kills' campaign is dimissed as fantasy and is not believed by the generation it is aimed at.

I don't see much difference

Andy, i agree and dis agree with you..

The other campaigns are a bit far fetched.. but this one really was a direct impact...

I think it works well, very well..

but for example an ad that does not work so well is the new drug driving as shown by Will early..

This country has become so dictatorial in the way it does everything and more so, it considers rights of everyone, even prisoners...

seriously.. why do they have human rights in there.. remind me again...

and how does having access to tv and newspapers constitute part of General Human rights?

food i can understand, water, i can understand, clean clothes and air i can understand, everything else? Pile of Cobswolop...

seriously..
