Hello,
I own a E Class W211 2003 model year which has telephone pre wiring installed with a phone cradle that I fit my Nokia 6310i into.
Cradle part no. A211 820 1451 03 W43 Q6
I wanted to know if it would be possible to use and fit the Mercedes bluetooth option so I may finally upgrade my phone to something newer rather than keep swapping sim cards between phones. I have the phone controls on the steering wheel as well that allow me to take and make calls as well as cyle thru my phonebook.
I'd appreciate it if someone can give me some advice on this.

Thank you.

I've seen experts on this area at this forum, perhaps better references are about to appear. Meanwhile this page should give some overview, see the MOST UHI part. It is written in German, if you don't like it, you can read the figures at least as well as I do.

When changing from a Nokia 6310i kit to an UHI, you actually have to change a lot of stuff. The main control box and the cradle parts.

You can reuse the phone antenna, antenna compensator, the microphone but you would need an adapter to match the antenna connectors and I believe an adapter can be used if one wants to avoid feeding a new cable from the phone control box to the UHI cradle. For perfect looks, some new parts for the centre armrest box paneling.

I believe some price indication was shown on the referred web page.

It is a pity that we don't have the option of a specific BT puck for cars that were built before the UHI kit was used, as they have in the US.

Thanks for replying!
You refer to a german wesbite but I dont see it in your reply?
Perhaps you can post that for me please?
Thanks again.

Hi,
thanks for posting the link for the german website.
I was just wondering in your original reply you mentioned that,

"It is a pity that we don't have the option of a specific BT puck for cars that were built before the UHI kit was used, as they have in the US"

Has anyone sourced one of these BT Pucks and made it work?

Or have I just got this completely wrong or is there some sort of compatibility issue that I dont know about?

thanks for taking the time to reply.

I bought the MB Bluetooth II # B67876125. I just slid out the 6310i cradle and replaced with this BT cradle. Works just fine with address book etc displayed on the dash lcd and COMAND display. When I get in the car my Nokia 6233 connects to the cradle automatically.

I bought it online from MB of Milton Keynes, link below, where they have a list of phones that are supported.

Hope this helps.
John...

Thanks for you reply John, actually you must have a newer vehicle to mine i.e. post 2003?
I dont have a UHI interface in my W211 hence all this hassel to fit a BT solution and be able to use a newer mobile phone without having to take out having to swap out sims.
I have the MB old style pre nokia hands free kit, I cant just remove the cradle if I've understood the advice that I've been given on here?

Thanks all the same for taking the time to reply.

Braybrooks UHI upgrade to UHI

Hello all,
just been talking to Braybooks concerning upgrading my current phone pre wiring in my W211 2003.
They can offer an upgrade to the existing existing installation to full UHI as installed to new vehicles for £595.00 + VAT
You would then need to purchase the MB BT module to connect and use your phone.
According to Braybrooks this would allow you to use your current controls on your steering wheel etc..
I was wondering have any members actually had this done to their 2003 vehicles via Braybrooks?
If so does it work?
Appreciate feedback from other forum members?

thanks

Et Cetera, yadda yadda ..... but it can be one of two things. The POS called FSE-12 or a clever retrofit upgrade.

-------------FSE UHI-----TRUE UHI
Cluster info-----No---------Yes
Phonebook-----No----------Yes

And so on. The FSE kits are a band aid and not the same as what later UHI installs are like. So please ask what the ETC implies.

Thanks Scoobyman :bannana: :bannana:

This looks like the type of thing we need. It is a blue tooth unit that just slips in the 6310i cradle and it would seem to have full Comand and steering wheel integration :)

Anyone tried one or got a price or dealer location??

Just found price - $531 (Australian Dollars) plus freight and insurance. (Just over £200 Pounds Sterling)

If anybody buys this device, it would be nice to have a report, does it work flawlessly, phone book download, phone compatibility etc. £200 sounds OK when there is no competition really. Changing to UHI is a lot more expensive and asks for some installation work too.
