E class WDD213...interior boot release. Has anyone any idea how to remove this switch please?

I’ve managed to break the remote boot release switch which is located within the drivers door pocket and can’t make up my mind whether the whole door trim has to be removed in order to replace it, which seems very unlikely ! I have tried easing around the switch carrier with my trim tools but nothing wants to give !

i suspect it will be door trim off and then release the clips from behind? That said if the switch comes with the trim panel then you might as well break it and remove without taking the door panel off?

I'm afraid it is in fact a door panel off job. You'll see why once it's off.
Believe me it will not come out otherwise.

I don't think there's anything wrong with thread revival if it's 100% on topic. It keeps duplicate threads down, which I think is a good thing I would have thought? It certainly helps others out in future when searching for help on the forums.

I did not say there was anything wrong with thread revival , just saying this is a big one for the first one of the year. Let's just see what rickychutney say's about the fix.
