Hi, need some advise please ive bought a E220 cdi from merc dealer in blackburn last week and having parked the car downwards on my drive which is sloped found the car when put in reverse (autobox) rolls forwards not just a bit as other cars that ive had like A and C class, this car doesnt stop until i press the brakes... ive sent it to the dealer as its under warranty...but is this normal on all E class w211s or maybe a gearbox prob?...as i think theyll just fob me off with "its normal on the E class"

hi, my e class, 320cdi 2000, when parked downwards and put in reverse, does not move until accelerator pressed. stays still. u got a problem

hi mate went to pick the from dealer , was told by the service frontline chap that the car was perfect as it has the sbc hold system something i have to get use to???
Dont think so!!!
convinced that the car shouldnt roll freestyle i spoke to a techy who explained that sbch is only active when youre in drive hence the car doesnt move but deactivates when you go from park to reverse or drive...
he also suspected there maybe a prob with autobox floorpan???
but said give it a go and if im not happy to book it back in.....so have anyone else expericenced this rolling in reverse youre comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.....thanks

I also park the same model merc on a drive with a slope. I must admit I put on the parking brake before I place into park. Are you suggesting you reverse in and with no park brake and no power being applied your vehicle should remained stationary. Can I ask if you have a delay with your turbo cutting in when you have to try and drive off fast, like at a roundabout. Does your engine sound noisy?

Hi, I have a E220 W211 04 plate and park on a slope.... when I choose reverse the car doesn't roll forward..... glad it doesn't otherwise I'd go through the garage door in front...

As for the turbo... I have noticed a slight lag... but got used to it... although I have the new shape W211 at present... 56 plate while my car is in for bodywork.... this new 220CDI engine is excellent... so much more power and quicker response....

hi well apparantly my car has had an approved car check done before it was collected by i would think they would have picked up on this. to be honest ive not tried driving off fast but will attempt it tomoz as for the turbo i havent got a clue...the engine sounds fine well better than the polo tdi i have...regards the slope yes i do apply the footbrake once parked facing downwards but when i move gear to P and release footbrake the car rolls forward not stopping or jerking to a stop like the A, C classes...but the dealer put it down to the car well that batch of 2001 - 2006 models as the new facelift model does not have the same braking system...or is he feeding some bull????

hi thanks im quite convinced now this car should not roll forward no matter what ,if the sbch is active or not...unfortunatley for me my kitchen extension is on the side where i park and with the wife driven i m expecting a call she gone thru the wall.....ill have to get the turbo checked out so looks like its going back to dealers for the 4th time....

no difference...thanks
