E220 CDI Engine Mounts

£220 ish (parts and Labour) a couple of years ago for my E320cdi engine mounts and transmission mount to be replaced .
Parts were Lemforder (had MB part numbers on them )in a sale on Autodoc . Indy fitted them (I lost my bottle to do them )
Wow that sounds super cheap. I looked up lemforder parts online and for my car just the parts are working out to around £160

Keep them in the Autodoc basket and wait for a greater % off (the Autodoc app is cheaper than their website )

This place called trident auto in Uxbridge. On 2nd thought i think the £600 was inclusive of vat. My mistake - but the breakdown was £260parts and £240 labour.
Do you know what their labour rate is?

Its just an estimate based on my calculations from quotes received from them in the past and an approximate amount of time a job takes from my research online it seems like its roughly ~£70 an hour which isnt too high frankly. Another merc specialist in the same area charges £90. I think a few other non specialist indies in the area start at £50

Sounds like a rip off, price up the parts from link below and if you are local to Welling kent pm me i know a mechanic who will save you plenty of £

Just heard back from mercedes edinburgh and the parts are working out just as expensive. I was quoted front engine mounts x 2 =£240 and the rear mount £72 grand total of £312. This seems in line with the price i got from my indy if i add the vat to the £260 i was quoted for parts.

I seem to be getting lemforder ones online for £160ish for the whole set. Does anyone know if there are any quality differences from experience? Reading online it seems lemforder are the original manufacturers for mercedes engine mounts anyway and that the part will be the exact same without the mercedes branding.

Thanks for sharing. Seen these already. Mine isnt as bad so clearly my mounts haven't completely failed yet. But I feel like they've partially failed if that makes sense. Maybe they've sunk half way or it could just be the gearbox mount as i also feel the shift from 1st - 2nd and 2nd - 3rd but not the shifts from there on. Also had the transmission serviced recently so hoping its not a problem with the transmission itself but possibly partially worn mounts
Just change all 3 , the engine mounts are oil filled one (or both) might have leaked or simply worn out. My car has a well balance V8 and I noticed a difference when I replaced mine , they were not split but I had no idea how old they were , so I just replaced them .

I fitted Febi from Autodoc but Lemforder are fine.

Lemforder is what comes on the car when new from the factory. I used Lemforder when I replaced mine.

Just for info This is my engine . Gearbox mount also shown.

Found a german video for a c class with an om651. Looks exactly the same on mine. Seems like the procedure is similar in some ways to the video above where some exhaust components need to be removed to extract the drivers side mount. Also on mine since it has a plastic sump the engine cant be jacked up like most other cars so its definitely not a DIY job unless you have an engine hoist to lift the engine up.

Yes. Thats the plan. Will most likely buy the lemforder ones as i cant seem to justify paying nearly double for Mercedes originals. Even if the lemforders last for another 3-4 years I should be good.

I DIY mine . OK on a 2 post lift with an engine beam holding the engine up, and I did a load of other jobs while I had use of the lift ,I have heard that they are easier to replace on the V8 than on some 4 and 6 cyl MB engines. The offset crank adapter tool is very useful on the V8 , I couldnt get one it time so I made one.

Not pretty , but it did the job.

I had a girlfriend like that once...
(She said the same about me...)

This was excellent advice. Got all 3 lemforder mounts for £143 on the Autodoc app. It was out of stock for a while but was in stock today and was the cheapest i could find it anywhere. Now just need to find a shop who knows what they're doing to install it at a good price

Will do. I have a feeling it is going to be similar to quotes I've already got. Seems like a 3.5 hr job and id be surprised if anyone does less than £70 an hour with todays inflation.
