Hello everyone,

I have just bought a E230 estate, which has been parked up for a year or so, anyway, i have replaced the dead battery and when connected up the alarm siren went off, sounds for approx 20secs then stops for a few secs, then starts. I can use the remotes to lock the car, open the car, even start the car, all the while the alarm keeps sounding, any ideas?

1) Take the siren out and bin it .....

2) Use car as normal ......

If everything else works ok, then don't worry about it .....

where do you reckon the siren is? Or is there a fuse?

Surely when it is roaring away under the bonnet , you could listen and locate it ? ;)

Is it not on the nearside on top of the wheelarch under the bonnet ?

Yea! but the problem is that the owner comes rushing out of the house after 20 seconds, only just enough time to get the bonnet up in the dark..;) :)

My dad had a w123 280te years ago and when we were getting off the boat at the marina he dropped his keys in the drink ....

Anyway we got them out and in the process of trying to dry the alarm fob out ( with a Zippo  ) , it got toasted .....

We got in ok ( in the days before electronic keys ) the car started ok but we drove home with the siren stuffed with newspaper and wrapped in a towel ....

Was still quite loud though .....

here's a pic of my E320 engine bay

the alarm siren is that black thing behind the suspension fluid bottle and the ABS pump.

my alarm prob solved!!!

Underneath rear seat, fuse number 11. Take it out problem solved! Alarm doesnt sound, car still starts. Siren looked/sounded like it was in the wheel arch, protected by the arch liner.:)
