i have a mercedes E270cdi, we think something is draining the battery, sometimes it starts sometimes not, we have had the battery checked and it seem fine, we think the first time this happened was when we had put a bike carrier on the boot when we went to start it in morning it was dead, had to jump start it. whilst on holiday it was completely dead and we had to get the breakdown assistance out and it took him about 30 minutes to charge the battery and then it started, after that whilst we where driving the alarm for the doors where going off saying they where open, and it was clicking the doors trying to lock them, in the end we took the battery off when we wasnt useing it and when we put it back on it started no problem! please help

sounds like maybe the door contact is faulty... the car doesnt shut down until the car is closed up and the car cant shut down if it thinks the door is open.

thank you for your reply, the door alarm where only going off when driving, if the battery is low would that set the alarms off? and do you think the fact that it started happening when we had but the bike carrier on the boot (may be to much weight) could have anything to do with it? the door alarm was for a side door not the boot!

To be honest the side door may not be related.. really you need to get it to someone who has Mercedes Star Diagnostics as you can go into the alarm system to see if it has been set off and why.

Remember there are two batteries. Is the other ok?

thank you for your reply, where is the other battery?
