E280 vs E320 v6 CDI

Simple question really are there any physical differences in the engine between the 280 and 320 cdi v6, ie camshaft change, valve size or Turbo size etc or is it all to do with the mapping they get at the factory. I have looked on the net but can't find any imforation...

They have a different fuel system (the part numbers for the injectors and pump are different), but the 280 can be mapped to 320 numbers easiy.

Apart from that, they are identical

Actually, you are right. I was getting confused between the 200/220 cdi.

Thats good there is hope then if its only a remapping, as I am picking up my first ever Mercedes tomorrow

Can the remapping be completed on Star or is that just a diagnostic tool ?

Star is only a diag tool, but you can get a good remapper to map it to 320 power levels for £200-300

Remeber to tell your insurance.
