I have the opportunity to purchase a 10-year old W124 E300 diesel estate (24-valve). It is in generally good condition, drives well and has a pretty full M-B history up to recently. Its mileage, (appears genuine) is 210000.
Anyone got any good ideas how much I should pay?
The only fault appears to be an intermittent heater fan - noisy as if a bush is dry when it is actually going. Hard or easy to get at and service?
The air con is factory fitted and unfortunately R12. Does anyone know if the system on this car will take a refill of R134a with the additive to mimic the properties of the R12 gas? Sadly I cannot test the a/c because of the inoperable blower motor. And finally, regarding air con in general on the W124 - should the electric fan ahead of the radiators run all the time when the a/c is running?
