e300 td and wvo

Hi David,

With the saloon I simply installed a 10 mm in line fuel priming bulb or you could use a 10 mm non return valve in the send fuel line. I never had any major problems using the veg oil in the C250TD saloon saddle tank apart from the fuel gauge not reading correctly. This lead to the tank running dry when it said there was an eighth of a tank left. Hence better to install the 10 mm fuel priming bulb in case you get caught out but I just started filling up once the fuel gauge went below 1/4 tank and never had any more problems with the fuel running out again.

ran my e300 on 50/50 wvo mix for while, before i started i brought 2 fuel filters from MB as i found out with my landcruiser they always block at worst time, as i worked as a chef i got the Kitchen Porter to clean fryers every couple of day than pass through a filter, heat in large pan to 120 degrees to remove tarces of water, then filter again, then the most important part, make him a cup of tea ( never upset your fuel suppliers!!)

the filter i used was an plastic type chefs used to filter used oil and return to the fryer for extended life, but that was a waste of time as i had a better use for it in my car,

another little gem is don't drive around with 100 litres of oil in your boot as when one turns over from excitable driving it not only takes hours to remove from boot liners it really bloody stinks!!

my car suffered from block filters alot but changing fuel filters only releived it for a short period, then booked it into my local diesel mechanic, he used to cheap skates trying veg oil so sorted problem really quickly which was small filter in fuel filter housing used before main filter( i didnt know it excisted ) problem never reoccured, although he said if blocks agin just remove clean then refit,

load of forum say w210 merc was last one you can use filtered oil in without difficulty, does anyone else agree?

enjoy gasguzzerling free motoring

massy
