Hi,

hope someone can help.

just picked up a cheapish e320.

both batteries were shot, but was able to drive it home in limp mode, since changing the batteries, have hooked it up to a scanner, load of low voltage errors but the abs system is still playing up.

getting 6210- abs control system.

464af and 45af (left and right speed sensors) 7203 test wheel speed sensor.

seems highly unlikely to me that both rear sensors would fail, but will inspect them.

any ideas ? Could the ecu be knackered

I am assuming you have deleted the fault codes, and they still came back, correct?

They can fail in close proximity to each other. Only way to find out, is to change them....

Hi,
on my old 2003 E320 CDI with at the time about 250,000 miles on it both rear Reluctor Rings rotted away and failed in a short space of time from each other causing the Speed Sensor failures.
The Reluctor Rings are cheap, as relatively are the sensors. Labour for the job unfortunately was not so cheap as beyond my capabilities these days.
I guess your E320 will have done lots of miles if it was cheap, so, I would think the Reluctor rings are gone. There is information, on Youtube, on how to replace them, and the sensors. This should take care of many of the faults.

Steve.....

Thanks both , I have looked into the reluctor rings, sounds like a bit of pig job but “simple” enough with 230k on the clock I wouldn’t be supprised if they are shot to pieces. Time to get the jack out:)

Just had them done on our SLK. Cheap at £8 each from Mercedes but a pain to do. One of the old ones had disintegrated and the other wasn’t far behind. I think the mechanic took the drive shafts out.
