Today when driving my car i felt that it was not responding the way it should be when using the kick down or normal acclerating it seemed it was giving a lazy response rather than the instant response i normally get from it.(its still fast just less responsive)

The only thing i can think that has been different has been my driving style for the last two days i have been very slow cruising (normally got a heavy foot) do mercs have a memory of your driving style or is there something wrong with my car.

They do self adapt. Especially the gearbox. Try driving it hard for a few miles and see if it improves.

I have been driving it in my normally style again after 2 days of cruising thats why i have been noticing it just wanted to make sure incase there was something wrong as to me even the tone on the engine sounds different sounds like its under strain when am pushing it and it has never felt like this before, think i will take it out for a hard run later..

You could try to reset the gearbox control unit. I do it every few months in my W204. Not sure if the method is the same for the E class but this is how I do it on the C:

Resetting the TCU will reset gearbox to factory shift points and the car will 'relearn' your driving style.
(1.) Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.
(2.) Press the accelerator pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
(3.) Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the accelerator pedal.
(4.) Wait at least two minutes for gearbox CU to reset.

I can definitely feel the difference. It feels like you are in S mode even though you are in C.
