Anybody done one? what sort of results did you experience?...any problems?...company recommendations?

hi

i got abut 35 bhp more from mine.

Which engine are we talking about? L6 or V6? It's something I would be looking into if I got an S320CDi. I take there are no gearbox issues like the 220CDi?

Was 224hp now 265. 540Nm now 590. I can't verify that these figures are correct without having a whizz on a dyno but that's what is advertised. I can however say that the difference is very noticeable and I wouldn't be suprised if the claimed figures are close. No gearbox problems and my car has done 93000 miles. :) Ohh sorry...V6

Hi camerafodder,

I've been thinking about this for a while - car now out of warranty andmay be some time before changing, so that's two less reasons for reluctance to remap...

Have you measured/guesstimated about MPG figures since your remap?

Thanks,
Eddie

Just bought a 2001 E320 CDI, drove it from Banbury to Epping mostly motorway driving and the on board computer read just under 37mpg.

Got home, installed chip, went out next day and drove a slightly shorter distance under similar conditions (motorway) and the on board computer read just under
44mpg:bannana:

car feels more responsive although I have no way of telling if the power gains are what the company states

Hope this helps,

Terry.

Maybe the chip fools with the computer :p:p

Seriously, when my SAAB was given a stage 2 map (+60ish bhp) it would return better MPG

This is no big suprise. Most chips increase the fuel rail pressure and do give an increase in performance.
But as the fuel meter relies on the standard fuel pressure for its calibration, it will now lie to you by a similar amount to the increase in pressure.;)
You'll have to check by a tank to tank calibration to see how much it is fooling you by but 15% is not uncommon.
There may still be small benefit to fuel consumption, but it's not as good as you are being told:(

Had mine done a few months ago by Celtic Tuning. Results are quite impressive I can happily recommend them. :thumb:

Hi CF,

How much did the re-map cost? :)

Just read with interest - any affect on Co2 levels?! MOT test? Do you get a guarentee from the tuner that there will be no impact on ther MOT?

I tried to get a group buy on here a couple months ago but nobody was interested. Celtic Tuning said they would do 5 or more cars for £250 each.....

Mine has just flown through its MOT these are the figures:
Limit applied 1.5l/m
Absorption coefficient 0.32 l/m, Zero drift 0.01l/min
Absorption coefficient 0.31 l/m (after correction)
Test result PASS:thumb:

I guess the problem is that everyone needs to be in the same place and each remap can take a couple of hours.
