Hi all,

A little help needed here and or advice.

I have been looking at various tuning chip options for my E350 CDI and have had a product called "CRTD2 Diesel Tuning Box" recommended to me supplied through a company called TDI tuning in Essex.

The specific unit for the E350 CDI claims power gain up to 324 BHP and just over 700 NM of torque, it also claims to increase MPG by a few miles per gallon.

Can anybody recommend this product from experience or recommendation or an alternative product with similar gains?

I have read the reviews on their website for other manufacturers, over 100 of them.

Many thanks

Better to get a remap of the ecu, most tuning boxes are crude affairs and only control one or two parameters. An ecu remap (done properly) will get the most out of your engine whilst limiting the stress on the components with the minimum of smoke.

Hi, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I can't get PM's yet as I have not made 30+ posts.

Maybe post on here if it is possible for you

Thanks

Hi Matt,

I have a C350 CD1.. 231bhp & added a DTUK tuning box which alters fuel & boost. I comes with a selection of maps so you can set the one that suits you. I also (at a later date) fitted one of their pedal boxes & found both excellent.

Car is more economical throughout and has far more grunt & pace. A 1200 mile round trip to Germany & back returned an indicated 42mpg as opposed to a similar trip without the kit at 37MPG. This was at the 130Km/hr and well above where permitted.

I have the map set at a quite modest level which suits, the engine is also extremely smooth. The pedal box with the map helps improve the lag on throttle response. The pedal box is also adjustable but in reality just alters the throttle position sensor like a comfort / sport / sport+ setting a cars - but does make it feel much more responsive.

I chose this in place of a remap as I didn't like the idea of removing the ECU & opening it up plus I can remove it when I want and if I change cars DTUK will remap the box for the next car - or I sell it on.

Speak to DTUK they are very knowledgeable and helpful - you will also get a discount as a forum member :thumb:

Evening Matt,

I have a c350 231bhp, I've had a dtuk box on it, then the brabus harness & it's now remapped, it depends what you want really, boxes etc are easy to use, fit & do what there designed to do but they do only change afew parameters(normally boost & fuel) where as a remap will change far more parameters. I drive my car hard at times & the other half is worse than me and it still returns 40mpg with a 25%motorway 75%town driving. If your near Glasgow pop over for a shot.

Matthew

Be aware that the use of tuning boxes makes the mpg readout less accurate and more optimistic, as the calculations don't take into account the change in duty cycle of the injectors or raising of fuel rail pressure etc.

Do a brim-to-brim figure to work out the true figure.

A properly remapped ecu will not have this effect.
