E350 recall

Hi new to the forum

had a letter from Mercedes saying my car needs to come in on a recall software update for Diesel engine

now they changed nox sensors and done some sort of calibration something along them lines

picked the car up all good done about 60 or so miles in it then engine management light comes on and a message saying something to do with bonnet please see owners handbook

had it plugged it from a friend who has a snap on computer came up with like 20 faults has anyone else had this or can someone please throw some light on this as it goes back Friday and I don’t want them bullshitting me

Have a read!!!! I am extremely annoyed with Mercedes about this and have now had a courtesy car for nearly a fortnight while they work out how to get the wifes MPG back to where it was. They stated in the recall letter that the fuel consumption would not be effected!!!

Nothing to do with Mercedes as i have sold mine.......but my 2nd car was a Zafira and although mine was the later model which was not affected it had the recall for the fire hazard.

It was booked in then they cancelled it until they were slack on work and then when i got it back they had done nothing except clear it on the MOT site as recalls are on there until you have done them.

They charge back to the manufacturers what repairs are done?

Well now i have a Zafira Tourer and guess what a recall for loose baggage rails on the roof which again only checked when they were not busy i suppose they charged the manufacturer again for nothing as just grabbing the car with the rails and rocking was all that was required.

It is their way now of just touting for extra work?

I haven’t really drove so can’t comment on the mpg plus none of that’s working either plus no reverse camera no cruise control car goes into merc guildford tomorrow I’ll let you know how I get on

So merc guildford have had the car since 7.30am this morning and ring me at 3pm saying technician is just finishing another car and will then look at mine do I need car back I say no if you need it till Monday that’s fine but guaranteed me it’s nothing to do with the recall, They then ring me back an hour later saying need 2 hours to look at car at £149 an hour usually £180 but as car is over 3 years old I’ve got a discount ‍ They say it could be an electrical fault, but they haven’t looked at it yet they need the 2 hours to strip the carpets apparently and also asked if I’ve modified anything, Surely they can just plug it in to computer and it will say what’s wrong ?

Right guys finally got to the problem, they took the speedo cluster out and guess what they found ? A mileage blocker !!! So the mileage has been reset back to what it should be so went in with 49k on clock came out with 60k on clock ha ha

Bought it from a garage in Manchester the lady at Mercedes says it’s very common, you can actually legally buy them it’s ridiculous

Which dealer have you taken your car to?

Took it to Merces of Ayr....... a long story but I would not recommend this dealer to anyone, I would not even trust them to check my screenwash!

A long story but since the car has been butchered by them it has been traded in for a Range Rover Sport for my wife. The only thing I will grant them is that they were prepared to fix everything that they destroyed (I am not just talking about the software update now) but we have lt otal faith with them, the software issues and start/stop issues could not be fixed along with the butchering of the vehicle but enough was enough. Complaint has been launched with Mercedes UK who are not impressed with the dealers actions either!.

Mercedes of Ayr are all part of Stratstone's West of Scotland Group which includes MB Glasgow and MB Giffnock. These were all stand alone dealerships till Mercedes UK forced a re-organisation into larger groups effectively reducing consumer choice as to who to do business with. Mercedes of Ayr was one of the first MB dealerships in Scotland back in the day iirc
