Hi

I know that I have posted on this before, but the MPG on my car sits around 14 at the moment, general driving not hammering it and I have not been driving it in temperatures that are very cold.

I am wondering what other E500 and S500 drivers are getting? I mention both cars as I assume that the MPG will be similar, if anything they should be slighter better in the E500 since its a lighter vehicle.

At this rate, petrol stations are going to think I am stalking them.

Many thanks

Tan

Yep pretty much all town, though was on a clear A406 last weekend and only got it up to 21MPG.

Its not a 500, but in my S320 town driving is as low as 8 or 9mpg, motorways up to 33mpg. The car averages 20mpg. If you are doing more town than distance driving, 14mpg is not too bad.

My 04 E500 Estate was a pig around town, but on motorways I could get up to about 30 mpg with a soft right foot.

I wish I had kept it despite that. Lovely car.

I get between 18 and 21mpg going to work and back which is mostly stop start traffic with a bit of 40mph freeness. On a run I get between 25-27mpg, I'm sure if I did proper urban traffic i.e stop-start-stop-start-stop-get stabbed-start-stop I'd get even less.

14mpg doesn't sound too bad. Although 21 on a run sounds a little poor unless you are cruising at 100mph the whole time? Maybe you need to replace your MAF.

Dont know if this will help but i average about 20 on all my tanks. upto 35mpg on long runs and the lowest i've achieved in town is 15mpg on a short run.

And i'm not the most behaved driver in the world either!

W220 S500LWB 2003 107k on the clock.

16-17mpg in town, 25 on a run @ 'motorway' speeds.

S500L 78.000 on clock
15 to 18 on start stops 25-28 on long run despite my heavy foot!!!

I do quite fancy an E500 211.

They are normally very well specced and well priced

I absolutely love mine and am so glad that it was repaired and not written off.

Most cars have good spec and some are have fantastic spec. As far as I know the only options I don't have are heated rear seats and power close boot.

If it is the MAF, what is the likely cost of replacing this?

Thanks

Drove the car quite alot on Monday and had really good MPG, drove from City Airport to Aldgate and got 22MPG, it was a sunny day but temperature was about 2'C, may be my car is solar powered.

Today was cold and gloomy and back came the 14 MPG.

What's the worry...I got an indicated 10.8mpg the other day in traffic in a 320CDI !!!!

And as diesel costs more in petrol cost that would be about 8mpg. Ouch.

Lowest I got mine down to was 18mpg in a traffic jam in Glasgow, but mine is just a 4 banger

I had 4.9 mpg on mine over half an hour's enthusiastic 'playing'

You could almost see the petrol gauge going down :)
