A photo would help, or the VIN. A 2005 E-class should have an UHI-connector. Most likely your current cradle can be detached from the UHI connector and you can replace it with a bluetooth adapter to work with any (modern) phone.

Actually a phone from 2005 would support 2G/GSM and would still work in many countries but bluetooth would be a better option.

The Nokia 6310i was the most popular cradle in that era, but it really does depend exactly what you are looking at in your own car. The cradle connects to the UHI connector. The 6310i was very popular BUT someone may have installed something else.

All that said: the 6310i is a two decade old second generation phone, so it would be wiser to fit a basic bluetooth connector in it's place which will be able to talk to your 4g or 5G mobile phone

Wow, I have never seen a mb branded phone! That looks cool, pity it doesn’t fit. Connector on the cradle looks odd too.

A GSM archaeologist will be along in a minute.

I'd guess that the cradle has been switched to accommodate an Ericsson, Sony or similar, but one of the Grey Hairs on here will know which it is.

Is there a part number on that removable cradle? It should just click out.

But best advice is still to just pop in a bluetooth module and use a phone that isn't two decades old.

Are we sure it's 'Mercedes branded' ? remember back then the market was flooded with covers for the 6310 , you just clipped the original one off and clipped - one of thousands of different ones available - in it's place .

I had a cover that almost exactly matched the 'wood' finish in my Omega Elite. Looed great in the car , but a bit odd when out of the car . Still got it (and the phone(s) somewhere.

Then again I wouldn't put it past Mercedes Benz (or any other car company) to have had some covers printed up and charge a fortune for them.

Just look at all those signal bars…

Detach the cradle from the UHI connector and you'll find the Mercedes part number for that cradle. Google tells you which phone it goes with (if you wanted to know). If you wanted to use that 6310i, you would anyway need to remove the odd cradle first.

Definitely fake MB. There were all kinds of case switches done back in the day. Quick twist of a knife and the Nokia would come apart in your hand for repair, with quick mod for the software. Unlike today where it takes a software mod to insert a Rolex face on your Apple Watch.

I had it with the car on my other Mercedes 2003 which has just been scrapped so think it is genuine AS I had the car from Mercedes and have owned it for 19 years

hi will , want to send you a pm message but cannot see the message option, sorry to crash the thread,!
You need to have 30 posts to enable PM.

You’ve been registered for a while though so you might be able to ask admin if they can set it up for you?

Your username is familiar, do I know you from one of the other forums - 190 club or similar?
