The E500 is going in for its annual service at MB tomorrow,

7 years old with 24,000 on the clock and this will be service number 6 !

Its got a full MB history and is under an extended warranty until 31st July.

While its still under warranty I'm wondering are there any mechanical update for this engine that I can request? It doesn't make any nasty noises but I was reading this thread....

Timing chains??

So to test the warranty I’m reporting ….

Currently its showing an ILS system fault.
Occasional Blind spot assist error messages causing the BSA to turn itself off.
The handbrake pedal doesn’t spring back up cleanly sometimes.
DAB seems to be getting unreliable though it had a software update last time to fix it.

See how I get on !

I’ve been offered a renewal at £499 which seems pretty good. It doesn’t cover quite as much as the previous extended warranty but it does cover that lump of an engine and the electronic gizmos.

I think the warranty only covers faults and not upgrades...i could be wrong.
At 7 years old should not this be its service number 7? .

Good point - it is service number 7!

Perhaps not an upgrade more a recall - I'll ask and see what they say.

I also have a 2012 4.7l biturbo coupe and have now decided to not continue my MB service plan and MB extended warranty as the costs have increased.
I will be looking at a Mercedes specialist from now on and the car has proved so far to be extremely reliable and economical.
Having used various MB main dealers and in general been disappointed with their service and support.
I'm still loving the car

I’ve been quoted £499 for the Tier 1 warranty this year and £39/m service plan. What sort of mileage is yours at now?
It's having a driveshaft under warranty next week - the part is about £700 plus labour so I think I'm going to extend the warranty for another year.

Mines at 32,000m now and I only do about 5,000m a year
