Need a bit of advice really. I just bought something on Ebay and i paid immediately after the auction ended (2 days ago now) and this is the 3rd day. I've sent 2 messages to the guy with no reply, he's got 100% +ve feedback though (40 times).

How long do i have to wait before i should start getting worried and maybe try and claim my money back?

Depends on what you bought, it could be in the post to you, not all sellers(Very few) actually tell you that they have shipped the item.
I wouldnt worry just yet!

Yes, that is quite annoying. When I sell on e-Bay I mail the buyer to say request paymant/thank them for payment/give them a delivery forecast/follow up etc etc. Its just common sense and good manners - something this country is sadly lacking.

Some sellers are good others aren't that good..... but I've never had a non supplier of goods purchased on ebay in over 200 transactions..

3 days is nothing. I (and many other sellers) often dont post stuff until the following weekend or whatever. People have jobs/family etc and list something on ebay as a sideline.

if nothings arrived in a weeks time, email them. give them a chance. if its a high volume seller then i doubt they have time to email each and every buyer. if its a one-off seller then they may not even think they need to email. you've paid for it and recieved a paypal reciept; thats all you need really and just wait for it to arrive.

just because its ebay doesnt mean you shoudl worry after 3 days of inactivity. he pay of posted it the same day - who knows. maybe he is on holiday or unable to check his emails.

Yep, wait a week.

Then email if only to create a trail of communications if you need to involve ebay or paypal etc.

I'm confused. What are you worried about??

Your strange and possibly inadvertant use of CapITaL leTtERs!!! ;)

'Twas inadvertant & since corrected.

I 'm guessing the OP wanted confirmation his dosh has been received & the goodies are en route. Sadly, some ebayers do the minimum & can't be ****d to keep you informed.

I don't get exercised until about a week has gone by, then it's time for an "Oi, where's my stuff" email.

Thanks for the replies... i'm a very inexperienced Ebayer hence why i was asking.

Read the guidelines on the site. I think you will find you cant start the claims process for about 2 weeks after the paid date.
The weather has delayed some post and there appears to be a small backlog.
Something I ordered last week took nearly a week to arive and it was posted first class. If the seller has 100% +ve feedback, then its probably going to be fine.

Also remember that it will take a few days for paypal to take money off your bank account so the selling hasn't really received any payment and might be holding off until paypal tells them that the money is in.

I agree with the others - I own a small business selling computer games/consoles etc on ebay/amazon/play.com etc and if a seller has 100% feedback then usually you're not gonna have any issue with him/her - wait a week - see what happens but I bet you'll find by next week you have your parcel :)

Personally, I give them a fortnight before starting to worry. I've bought loads of stuff of Ebay and take the view that most sellers are just individuals trying to shift things they no longer want. I don't expect them to operate like M&S say and if I need something very quickly I'll tell them so when I pay.

I've never had a delivery problem that wasn't caused by the post and even then they've always turned up.

I know a bit about ebay and you have no worries - if its not sent to you then you will get your £ back however it takes seconds to set up auto emails to confirm your payment has been received etc more sellers should do it.

The guy may be working away or many other reasons - if its big and coming by carrier then have you missed the carrier ? again seller comms is important but so many small sellers dont do it

There's always someone home from 9-5 so if it was coming by courier then i'm sure we would've got it.

I sold some stuff on E-Bay just as the Royal Mail went on strike a year or two ago, I managed to get everything posted before the strike & e-mailed all the buyers to let them know their parcels were with Royal Mail but would be delayed due to the strike & it was outwith my control.

On the same day the postman went back to work, I received 4 e-mails demanding to know why they had not received their goods that day & demanding I refund them. Some people are just so unreasonable.
