eco valve,, anybody tried one,,???

just wondering if anyone's tried one of these,, do they work,, ?? you fit it between the brake servo & the inlet manifold,, so i've read,, supposed to increase your mpg,,

There are all kinds of things you can buy for a few quid that claim huge fuel savings or hp gains (or both).
My theory is if these devices worked Mercedes would have fitted them during their milti million pound development stage. I certainly would not attach any of these things to my brakes :crazy:

so you do splice it into the brake servo pipe,, seem's a bit strange & dangerous to me,, what's supposed to be the thinking behind it,, let more air into the inlet manifold,, would'nt that just weaken the mixture & your ecu would compensate & richen it back up,?? canceling it out,,

It adds turbulence, that's the trick apparently.

Anyone with a turbo or a supercharger might as well forget it as they already have a decent amount of turbulence :)
 
These are a spring loaded valve that is supposed to open when the inlet manifold is under high depression.
High depression is mainly caused when the engine is on over-run so no gain there as the fuel is shut off anyway, at medium depression it MAY allow some air into the inlet but may not, when full throttle is used the valve will close to supposedly richen the mixture again.

As has been said they really work by altering the mixture strengh but the ECU will alter it back again so I fail to see how they can really do anything.
