Ecotrac Tires?

never heard of them but i may look into getting a set of these.

This is what I thought too... I am worried on the budget tires or summer tires I previously had on the car but those say the compound they use is good up to -20, wich was the problem I think with the other tires as its cold and wet and the grip on some was just dreadful...Then if those are OK at low temperature, I don't mean -20, but below 5 degrees, it might be the way to go?
This is why I asked if anyone tried those previously.
Paul, what size would you be looking for?

You're worried about budget tyres, but O.K with remoulds?

There may well be nothing wrong with them at all, but I'd be more inclined to go a budget brand than a remould.

You usually find decent brands f part worn winter tyres on ebay for less as well, which might be an option.

Apparently remould went a long way and are now good. So I read somewhere.
Definitely budget tires( mainly summer tho) are not an option with the weather here.
I had few brands and this is like driving on ice, skidding all over without any warning....
I don't remember all the brand but some were SAVA, another Accelera ( I think) and others... Dreadful, scary and all....
The remould say the compound is good for cold weather, this is why I am interested in, and 5 years guaranty, then they should be OK.
To get a good set of seconds on ebay is a lot dearer too.

Sava are made by goodyear and have a winter tyre, and Accelera are made by Michelin and also make winter tyres. I would imagine both also make claims of wet weather and winter performance.

I think the point is that remoulds are by their very nature a budget product and highly unlikely to be any better than any other budget tyre. Don't believe the marketing hype on the website. Find the cheapest tyre available with the worst customer reviews and check the manufacturers website. I bet it makes claims of extreme grip and improved handling etc etc etc

Creeky, I didn't know that. The worse tires I had on the car. They were not winter tho.
They were accelera alpha, now I remember.
the other was a rotolla f104 or F105?, never fitted on the car as the review were dreadful too...

We'll see what I get. I keep you posted with the review :)

Just go the other brand, Event... See post #21... They were as bad as the SAVA and the Accelera...

well my car has 225/40/18 on the front and 255/35/18 on the rear but they don't do 18" tyres so if i can fit 16" wheel on my car will prob go down that route as can get a set of 16" steels for beer money:bannana: But since my last post the other half has got a job where she now dont have to use her car, so i may just park mine up when the tempature drops and there saying where in for a bad winter within the next couple of weeks but where have we heard that before :)

Paul, they do 225/ 55 / 16 for cheap at the moment.
I got them on now. Don't know how they really are as they just have been fitted and they need to be a little "bedded in"?

To be continued in a wee while when it will snow :)

I am looking for a 16" steel wheel for the E300TD, offset 41, you wouldn't have 1 extra by any chance?

Cheers :)

Sorry , just to clarify , you've popped a set of remounds on for the Scottish winter ?

Hi Howard,
Yep, if you never try you never know ;)
The guy who fitted them didn't see anything wrong wit them.
They look well made indeed.
The rubber is nice and soft :p compare to the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-d3I had.

But again, to be continued in a wee while...

Is there anything wrong with deep fried Mars bars :eek::D

Been doing some miles on those tires now, in the cold and in the worse wet weather ever... And they behaved really really good :thumb:
I am truly a happy chap and delighted with my remould :bannana:
