Egr valve clean up

I cleaned my EGR again today to check the condition of it as I am getting some juddering at low rpm/low throttle. It’s probably a vacuum leak, but I was surprised to see that the EGR has held up well and wasn’t too dirty.

Ive done it before but took the plastic off this time and oiled the mechanism too, but I was pleased to see that the valve moves very easily/freely.

After the diesel emissions update (increased EGR usage) I was worried that the EGR’s lifespan would be drastically decreased, but it’s still going strong at ~160k miles.

I had a new metal gasket but had to reuse my turquoise o-ring as I mistakenly thought that I had a spare… it’s only ~1.5 years old though.

Just a word of warning on getting the EGR out - you might have seen videos in ‘chiselling’ the EGR out. Long story short, I’ve created noticeable marring into the engine where the EGR sits. The metal is not that hard. Be careful! I’m worried that I’ve ‘ruined’ the seal where the two surfaces meet…

Oh, and does anyone know the torque values for the two EGR bolts?
