Hello everyone,
Could do with some very quick advice? I am looking to buy a mercedes estate and have seen and test driven a C270 Diesel 2.7 Automatic. All the family love it, my worry is that it is an 04 plate with 144,000 miles on the clock. Do I need to worry about the mileage or at £2,500 is this car a good buy??????

Assuming there is evidence it has been cared for ( service history , receipts etc ) then yes , a good buy :)

With a car that old history is everything. Is it a cherished one of two owner car or has it been "round the block" a few times with multiple owners? How long did the last owner owner have it? None of these questions on their own are definitive but all serve to build up a picture of the car. Sadly many cars are put up for sale because owners have been warned by their garage of up and coming expensive repairs. Budget for £1,000 of repairs worst case scenario and maybe a couple of tyres or an exhaust at best if its a good un. :dk:

Thanks guys, I've paid a deposit and am going for it, have a very happy hubby!!! :)
Did have a bigger budget so have spare for any poss hiccups, it also has MOT till next June so fingers crosed everything looks fine

They are a great car. Common issues are front suspension bushes (upper/lower arms/anti-roll bar etc...), If you can hear any knocking at the front end whilst driving over moderate bumps then get a few hundred quid knocked off for the bushes as they will need doing. Perished seals on low pressure feeds from fuel filter to pump at the front of the engine, usually results in poor starting when engine is warm but can also affect cold starting. All easily fixable.
