Here's one of mine.
Where abouts are you?
I have some excellent stuff for the job, but it is not available to the public.
I may be able to do it for you.

That looks like you still have the original wax on and around your engine.
Obviously, it offers some protection, but has started to flake off.
It's not as easy to get the wax off as it is grease and dirt.

Ye i figuired that by looking at the air intake anything that can be done or anything you recomend i could buy ?

On the top cover the yellowing looks like aged/burnt laqcuer to me, won't be as easy to clean that up as Graeme has said. I think forum member Pluggers had his cover powder coated on his W202 :)

Let me ask my local powder coating friend if he is prepared to do the rocker cover and the spark plug cover.
The rest I could do, but it's not a quick and easy job.

They probably left the laquer on there as it's meant to be there.
However, when it gets to that state, it looks much better removed IMHO

Hi there GRAV888 any news on this topic

Not yet mate.
He's on holiday until the 5th March.

sorry to bring back this thread but would like some information please from anyone out there who has used available products that give a gloss finish to the engine parts as shown in the first pictures. Autoglym engine cleaner claims to remove the greese well any thoughts ?

GRAV888 any news from your side ?

Hi Gurpz

Firstly here is a pic of my engine bay:

Before

After

Products used were:

Meguiars Safe Degreaser (Specialist product) cut 4:1 though I hear the AG stuff is very good too. Agitated this with a brush/scourer then hosed off.

The plastic was then treated with Autoglym Rubber & Vinyl (Halfords) and a couple of thousand miles and 2 months later it is still looking great. The Metal can be polished with Meguiars NXT Metal Polysh (maybe Halfords probably specialist) I have found this to be very effective, try it on the star it is amazing how it will bring it up!

PM me if you want further info.

Jacob
