clk
hi all newby here

i have a clk 200k and i am looking to do an engine conversion maybe to a
320 v6.
is this possible?
will i need to replace wiring loom, ecu etc?
will the 200 gearbox work with this engine?

any help is much appreciated

thanks :thumb:

Might not be what you want to hear, but if I don't say then someone else will. Cheaper an easier is to sell up an buy a car that left the factory with the 320 engine.

An easier bet, is to replace the kompressor with a turbo unit. Or change the kompressor pulley to give you more power. With an engine conversion, you'll be lucky to get it running correctly and even if you do, the cost of the conversion and following insurance wont do you any favours. Seeing as you can get a 320 version of your car.

Or add a turbo with the compressor...

:bannana:

Just buy a 430 and be done with it... oh and then stick an Eisenmann Race Exhaust on it ....

Bobby Dazzler's advice is spot on.

Unless you actually want to do the conversion as a project for its own sake, there's absolutely no point in not buying a 320. There are plenty around.

Also, the 320 engine 'ain't that quick to warrant it.

Now , a CLK 32 would be a different prospect ;)

The conversion you are mentioning is effectively a m111 to a m104 conversion, which i have just finished doing on my e class(w124). the parts i changed were:

engine
gearbox
propshaft
front brake calipers (pads+disks also)
exhaust
Radiator
intercooler
oil cooler pipe that runs across the rad
all the air ducting and water pipes
ecu
engine wiring harness
gearbox NSS wiring
brake pad sensors
left head light inside covering behind it as the air intake
rear diff
rear axle driveshafts
speedo cluster
the front wishbones and hubs (due to brake disk clearance issues, driverside was hitting the actual wishbone, passenger side was ok for some reason, but i changed both for good measure.)

as such it is really on feasible if you have a full donor car, (possibly a insurance write off due to rear end damage, or something the like). the conversion took me about 7 days of actual labour, but i was working about 1.5days (weekend) a week on it, so it wasnt driving me completely mad (and i was was busy week days).

For a clk the operations would be similar, but the electrics may be more challenging. So in a nut shell, yes it is possible, BUT unless you hold alot of sentimental value for your clk, it really is not worth it. As stated above, upgrade your komp pulley to get a little more out of it, or just sell up and buy the 320.

Umm not sure it does help him as the CLK never had the straight 6!

Though a ClK 208 never had a straight 6 a c class 202 did and a ClK is basically a 2 door class.
If the O/P is looking for more power would,nt fitting and tuning a 230k engine as these engines are 193bhp standard and can be tuned to give more than the v6 320.

thanks for all your replies, very help full
it is more power i am after, did not no that 230 could be more power full than a 320!!
this could be an option,
sorry to ask but would this wiring loom be the same as a 200 in comparision to the 230?
