EML warnings are almost exclusively related to emission issues either directly or indirectly such as O2 sensors values , NOx sensor values , Camshaft position sensor positions MAF values etc, not fluid levels.

There are other sensors that monitor those.

I’m had an EML appear yesterday and a Mercedes call out technician has just left after checking the car (GLC 63 2020 model)

The light was triggered by low coolant temps. Basically ecu seeing colder than expected engine temperature. (Coolant logic system)

He ran diagnostics and all levels were within spec so he’s checked some connections under the bonnet and cleared the light. Could have been just a one off but if it comes back on I’ll get it booked in to a dealer.
