Does anyone know how much or have a part number for a new Mercedes star on the cover that goes above the AMG badge. Seems like it just clips in but has snapped off.

Its not clipped on, its sort of 'chrome coated'. Mine is peeling off, I think you will have the replace the whole cover if you want it nice and shiny. Shouldnt be too expensive as the bottom section is a seperate unit and just comes off. There is a part number on the back of there......

Oh I expected that at first but it looks like there were little holes where it clips in. Will have to get the part no and see how much.

EPC to the rescue!!!!

The part is available.

Thats the front cover with both the AMG badge and the MB badge.

There is an alternative cover without the AMG badge. But you wouldn't want that now, would you?!!

Great looking car Shaun.....

Cheers!

Cheers Greg Just gave MB Derby a call £58 Inc VAT. Expensive shiny star but then if I want it perfect....

Also asked him for the radio extractor tool with the part no. Must say he was quite shocked I had the part No's and wasnt a garage :D . What a fantastic site this is.

No worries mate, bought the EPC when I got the SL, what a great piece of software.

I had to order a new sun visor for the SL, great look on the parts guys face when I recited it with colour code, wish I'd had a camera :D

Out of interest, does anyone know whether the engine cover on the C43 (or I suppose any other car that has one) serves anything other than a cosmetic purpose?

IMO its purely cosmetic. Otherwise just an ugly looking lump of metal.Cant see it serving much more of a purpose. May keep a bit of heet from the bonnet.

It is a heat sheild and noise deadener aswell as a safety feature to stop or slow down internal bits of the engine escaping if it all goes pear shaped!

Now that's comforting to know.
