Hi all,

I was sitting in heavy traffic for quite a while earlier, and the temp gauge went past 95eg which is where it usually sits, didn't go into the red but I had
"Engine Fan" on the display.

Is that an error telling me that it's not working or just a message to tell me the engine fan is on?

The temp reduced while I wasn't moving so I'm guessing the fans working?

Thanks, Clk320 w208

I think it does represent a problem, not necessarily that the fan does not work but something in the system is outside what the electronics expect. It'll need someone to read the codes and possibly check some parts.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I'd best get the codes read!

often its faulty fan control unit, sometimes sensor fault...

test the system too, mine was working ok unless >50% fan speed was required. By commanding different speeds fault triggered.

Aaah, thanks for that! that kinda makes sense actually

These cars only have one electric fan so if you are getting that message then definitely the fan is not working - get it seen to ASAP.

Funny you should say that, had a look in the engine bay earlier on and the plug on the fan shroud was unplugged! I've plugged it back in but can't imagine why it was unplugged, I had the coolant changed last week, maybe it was from that..anyway I'm going out in a minute so I'll get it up to temparature and see if it works .
