Hi there,

A kind of grinding noise/vibration started a few weeks back on my 98' W210. It is most noticeable when it is in gear, engine spinning fast at low road speed - moving off on first gear - wheels not spinningn.
I have taken it to an independent specialist and put in on the diagnostic tool but no errors were found on the engine side
I can feel the vibration through the floor as if something is running rough. I have put some injector cleaner through but hasn't make much difference.
Gearbox oil changed about 10,000 miles ago.
Since the noise is related to engine speed when in gear, I think I can rule out the gearbox.
Is it the torque convertor?
hat can go wrong with it?
Please advice.

Thanks,
David.

complete guess - motor mounts? does the noise / vibration get worse if in D, stationary and you wind steering to full lock and hold hard aginst the stops? if so - thats motor mounts dying.

I don't seem to notice any grinding vibration when stationary. However, I am not ruling out anything. Will try later.

It could be if the bearings are wearing out.
