Darn, my engine light has appeared this morning. Solid amber - but with no obvious engine problems, and surprisingly no mention of this warning light in the Owners Manual!
My next scheduled service & MOT is late October. Can I wait or shall I bring the service forward? Mileage is 69xxx
E350D (Adblue) 2014 AMG Sport.

Thanks

Let’s see a picture of the light ?
There should be a service countdown somewhere within the dash cluster

It’s your car so you can do what you like service wise , on a 2014 car it won’t make any difference (unless you have some form of warrant/guarantee/agreement that requires it doing on time )

Generally, red alerts mean stop, amber alerts mean needs attention but OK to drive.

The EML is there simply to warn you that a fault has been logged in the ECU that can affect emissions. Other types of faults do not generally bring up the EML.

The next step is to get the fault codes read, make a note of them, then delete them (which should extinguish the EML) and drive the car to see if they come back. You can do this yourself with an iCarsoft MB v2.0 or v3.0.

Best case scenario is that the fault codes will disappear for good once deleted, worst case scenario is an expensive issue with the AdBlue system or NOx sensors - good luck.

Also, there's no need to bring the service forward, however you do want to start investigating the fault asap, because EML is an MOT failure, and you want to have enough time to get parts ordered and the repair booked-in etc, if it came to that.

If the engine light is solid amber and there are no obvious engine problems, you can typically wait until your scheduled service in late October. However, it's a good idea to have the vehicle's diagnostics checked at your earliest convenience to rule out any potential issues.

If the op is saying there is no picture of this light in the owners manual , is it an engine management light ?

Photo of engine warning light. Dash counter says "A Service" - 45 days

It's the EML alright - aka MIL.

Get it plugged in asap, it could be something simple. Fingers crossed.
