  1. The ‘Engine light’ illuminated a weeks ago on my 2016 C200 petrol. I booked the car in for a check, and now the light has gone off. I’m not sure if I should cancel the booking or not. Any idea what the light could have been, the car drove normal. I thought it might have been a sensor, is it common to clear itself?

The code, of which there are many, will have been stored and may be significant.
I would want to know, but it's your money...if you are paying :-)

If your car is 2016 then it is under warranty, so I wouldn't hesitate to take it to the dealer. Over the years however I've had engine lights come on numerous times with various cars, including my current E350. No problem when the car is under warranty as you won't (or shouldn't) be paying, but a different story if you're being charged whatever amount your garage decide is the appropriate fee for a diagnostic check, then any appropriate follow up. I now use my own code reader to check the code, and I usually reset it to see if it returns. If it doesn't, I don't worry too much. In my experience, garages often seem to apply the same logic.
