Got a Mercedes C250 2015 model, went in for a service on 25 November, on the 11 December Amber engine management light came on, took it to a local garage today who gave me the following fault codes: P13DF-09, P1BC3-00, P229F-09 and P229F-91 he thinks its to do with the Ad-blu but his system won't let him get any further, have rung Mercedes who can't fit it in till 4 January. Anyone any ideas what it may be and how much I could be looking at to get it right and if I'm ok to keep driving it.

Welcome to the forum Gaz.

You would be best to find a Mercedes specialist with Star diagnostics to determine the fault. Cheaper than main dealer you'll find.
Sorry, can't help with any recommendation. Never been to Sheffield in my life.

It's usually OK to continue driving if the amber EML is on, but look out for any warning messages. It's the messages are in red you need to deal with them immediately

Hi Gaz,

I have exactly the same errors (P13DF and P229F). The amber engine management light appeared 3 days ago and today while driving the computer said I have 496 miles until the engine won’t start (with adBlue logo). I have W205 from 2015. I did some research on the internet and the probable cause is the NOx sensor. The replacement part costs around £200-£350 depend when you are getting it from. I bought a scanner especially for this occasion because I just spent £600 on service and MOT and just cannot spend more money for something I can check myself.
Anyway I am going to risk buy the new sensor, replace it (using a mechanic), clear the code and see if that works.
I wish me luck !

I will update this post once I am finished to let you guys know.

Kamil

You are third person including me who got this issue after service got done. It happened after driving 1 or 2 miles. Engine management light and cannot measure fluid levels.

I took to mercedes and they replaced nox without charge but also said that adblue needs replacement and will cost £1700.

My car model is 2017.

If your car has been subjected to the diesel gate emission software update, then I believe MB will give an extended warranty on the NOX sensors (two years I seem to remember).

Given that both cases happened soon after service, could the diesel emission software be updated during the service thus triggering these faults soon after? If so, could your NOX sensors be replaced free of charge under warranty?

Is there a way to find when the software was last updated timestamp? Or need a tool for it?

It should be on the receipt for the service and if not call them and ask....... If it has been done kick off with them because they have no right to do the update without your consent.

Hi Kamil,

I have exactly the same issues and also considering the risk of buying a new sensor and having a mechanic install - please let me know the outcome.

494 miles remaining!

Kris.

You will need counter resets (some can be done by SDS), and if new sensor is newer model, SCN coding too (need online account).

Hi,
It’s Kamil here, sorry for taking too long with the reply but I couldn’t remember password to my account and it kept going blocked. The reset doesn’t work.
Anyway I have changed the NOX sensor and as soon as I came back from the garage the engine management light came on again. Checked the codes and they were the same. Gave it back to garage they said the forgot to program it. Problem solved !
That’s what I thought. Yesterday (3 months from the repair) I was driving on M3 and the engine management light turned on again. It’s a different code but related to NOX sensor again. I am not sure what to do now.

It is another nox this time. Very common.... they go almost hand in hand.
