Just been driving along in my E55 210 when I feel this horrible vibration through the steering. I looked in the engine bay and noticed that the engine was sitting at a funny angle, the right hand engine mount had completely collapsed.

Good job I was only going slowly at the time.

Anbody else had this problem?

Wild guess: it rusted through. Look at all the other rust on your car. Complain loudly to Mercedes. If it's covered by Mobilo Life's anti-corrosion warranty then claim. Glad you weren't going fast!

It will be repaired on Monday, I will check if corrosion was the cause.

I have been lucky with rust on my car the only place was the door tops, and that was only surface rust, caught in time.

Car repaired now, was not corrosion, it had just collapsed.

Had to replace the engine mount rh arm as well, this had broken in two.

Very hard to get this part.

A wild guess ? not the most helpful of posts really.Complaining loudly about a wear and tear item just creates friction and achieves nothing.

Engine mounts are rubber filled with silicone oil.Over time the diaphram can leak and/or the mount sag.Another tell tale sign is increased engine vibration.Changing them is straight forward unbolting exercise on most cars if you have a trolly jack to take the engine weight off the mount.

*shrugs* I wasn't "complaining" about a "wear and tear item", I was putting forward a possible explanation for a situation as described.

This is a 210. Even the E55 AMG from the 210 series rusts through (hell we have a member whose E55 is even rustier than my E320cdi).

Thanks for your "helpful" comments.
