Check for water ingress in passenger footwell and in module boxes under the bonnet.

You had a lot of rain before it happened?

If no joy there then plugging into a Star is the best option

Had a man come out put it on to a computer came up no engine falts then told me it maybe the crank sensor could that be right

Was it a Star? If not some of the codes may not be readable by aftermarket diag equipment.

Codes are only half the info. You need live data that a Star can provide.

Crankshaft sensor won't give you an audible "click" when you try and start it.

Also crank sensors tend to breakdown when hot.

Yes it could be CPS, however as above I would advise getting codes read.

When my CPS failed on my CL500 and subsequently broke down the AA guy was able to determine likely CPS failure code via basic generic OBD diagnostic reader which he had....my local MB indy then confirmed via STAR and changed CPS, all was then okay.

It started to day but would not run very well then turned it on and off 5 times ran but rubbish when you rev then turnd it over for 6th time just click
